Dog lose weight because of his age?
Our 8-9 year old male Maltese x Shitzu has been losing weight in what seems a rapid pace. Your first check up to the vet weighed at about 10 kg and lately has been about 7-8kg. This has been notable only after we got a puppy male Maltese x pomeranium which was about 2-3 months ago. The puppy seems to exhaust the older dog playing around. If i worry about losing weight or is only because of his age, exercise increased around the puppy. Always eat plenty of food and drink pleanty of water more than I think even feed him in some cases. Plz Help
The same happened to our hoarse when we got our beagle puppy. Our Alaskan husky is 6 years old and weighed 85 pounds when we got the puppy. Now we've had for about 5 months and weighs 70 now. I think it's just due to more exercise. My vet told me it was nothing to worry about. But you might want to take your dog to the vet for a checkup age. Sometimes new puppies have worms. You only need a checkup and talk to your veterinarian about your concerns. good luck!
